Wow, where do I start? We found Motorhome Escapes online after another company told us our booking had been double booked. Honestly, I’m so grateful things worked out the way they did because our experience couldn’t have been more perfect. We had never been to Scotland before and had never hired a motorhome, so we didn’t quite know what to expect—but from start to finish, everything was amazing. The email communication was clear, informative, and really reassuring, and having Debbie on the end of the phone made such a difference. She was always friendly, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. When we collected the motorhome, Debbie gave us such a warm welcome. The handover was thorough but explained so simply, making everything feel easy and stress-free. She even took the time to chat with our children and made a special fuss of our dog, Jet, which meant so much to us. All the information we needed was neatly organised in the pink folder, and it was so reassuring to know Debbie was just a phone call away if we needed anything. Thankfully, our trip was completely trouble-free, and we were lucky enough to have perfect weather. From beaches and waterfalls to rivers, mountains, and even snow—it truly was the most incredible first experience of Scotland. When we returned, Debbie took the time to listen to all our stories, even though she was clearly busy, which just shows how much she genuinely cares about her customers. We were already planning our next trip—this time to the Isle of Skye—on the drive home! I would highly recommend booking with this wonderful family business (just maybe not when we want to go again!). Thank you, Debbie—you’re absolutely lovely and brilliant at what you do. We’re so grateful for such a special experience.

The van was in excellent condition and really nice to drive. If you were thinking of giving a motorhome a try then the Arran II from Motorhome Escapes is the ideal starting point and Scotland the ideal country.

Weather was fabulous and the Iona campervan had everything my daughter and I could possibly need. Easy to drive with shower, toilet, sink, cooker, microwave, heating and two beds. Stayed at some fantastic sites right on the sea fronts. Would highly recommend Motorhome escapes if your thinking of hiring a campervan as their service and communication was excellent. Will book with them again soon.

Hired 2 motorhomes for a week to do the NC500 with friends from America. Debbie was fantastic at helping me organise this as a suprise for my husbands 40th and made the booking process easy. The motorhomes were fantastic and were equiped with everything we needed for our trip. They were immaculate inside and out and easy to work. Having the opportunity to use either the electric hook up or leisure battery gave us the chance to have options on where to stay for the night. Highly recommend.

We hired a motorhome for two weeks in Nov. Well maintained and well kept vehicles. We had a few challenges with operations but the whatapps text assistance was on hand to assist. They were responsive and descriptive in their trouble shoot instructions. Getting to the pickup site office at Bathgate from Edinburgh Airport via uber or bolt was easier than the other way. Pickup was seamless as many of the instructions and procedure was triggered and completed online a week before arrival. Return was also seamless with deposit credited back to my card within schedule. Great experience.

Came back to motorhome escapes to rent again this year. Vans are fantastic and staff are really accommodating if they can do something to make things easier for you they will. I would definitely recommend motorhome escapes and will use them again. We had a great time in Lewis and Harris rented van for 6 nights, perfect duration to see lots of the island. Beaches are to be seen to be believed and I think if motorhome escapes could do something about the weather they would we had everything we needed in the van so could get warm and dry easily after being in the elements.

Kirsty picked up on our wants and needs immediately and showed us models that hit them brilliantly. Having told us that she’s still learning the sales role, she’s a real natural. As I hire motorhomes all over the world, I can honestly say this is a 5 star experience. Cleanliness of the motorhome, top notch! It was a 2024 Swift Voyager 494 and running smoothly on both motorways and single track roads of NC500. Quite luxurious feeling if you disregard some rattling sounds on bumpy roads (which most motorhomes have). Had a few minor issues with motorhome but not a big deal and the crew was happily listening my feedbacks about these. Saying that, communication with the crew was seamless despite the fact that they are trying to manage a huge operation with few people. One little critic that I forgot to mention during handover; camping chairs and table is not really worth the money that I’ve paid considering the quality. Overall, I’m sure we will see each other next time if I’m coming for a motorhome trip to Scotland again.

I can’t recommend Motorhome Escapes enough. We broke down in our own car on the journey from west wales to collect our van. Craig waited for us for over 3 hours after closing so we could still collect the van and not stay in a hotel. The van was immaculate, warm, and equipped with everything you could need. This was our first time hiring a camper van. We toured the Highlands and went over to Skye. We’ll definatly do it again, and will definitely use Motorhome Escapes again.

Was total new to motorhome holidays. This was in the top few holidays we have ever had !The motorhome was absolutely fantastic. A joy to drive and a joy to live the Highland life !Michelle and her assistant were very friendly and informative and showed us all around the van and how it operates , maintenance , hook up , water , power , gas etc.From pick up I asked for a good first stop off and Michelle recommended a site in Pitlochery which was easily within driving distance for the night and got us off to a fantastic first night.After that it just got better and better , heading North and the incredible scenery just blew us away ! This was a dream holiday which Motorhome Escapes helped to make come true. The whole experience was wonderful, from the ease of booking with Michelle (who kindly answered all my random questions) to the collection with Kirsty (who was very helpful and explained everything clearly) and the ease and friendliness of the team when returning.We hired the dog friendly ISLAY. We found it spacious with plenty of storage space for clothes and food etc, fully equipped with everything you need, plus very comfortable seating and bed. The TV was a bonus on the rainy evenings to watch the Olympics.We travelled west via Loch Lomond up to Glencoe (which is truly stunning) onto Skye then back via Fort William and Falkirk. If I’d known how much we would enjoy being in the motorhome I’d have booked it for two weeks as there is so much to see and do in Scotland.Thank you to the whole team.

Picking up the vehicle was very easy and again, straightforward. The Motorhome was perfect for travelling around for 2 weeks around the Scottish highlands (consider which routes you plan to take according to your driving ability and experience when driving a large vehicle in the highlands). Great winter weekend family meet-up in the north of Scotland wild camping in forest near Dingwall. 6 berth van was perfect for 4 adults, everything was to a high standard which made for a comfortable journey and stayover. Thankfully we had blue skies and missed the snow that fell the following day! Only minor thing was hiring a 1KW generator – could have done with 2KW. Can’t speak highly enough of Motorhome Escapes!Just spent a week away around the NC500. We had the Mull and it was fantastic. We originally had looked at booking a different vehicle for 4 people, but they were very helpful in advising the Mull which is bigger. Capable of hosting 6 people, which was perfect for the 4 of us and our puppy Hugo! They supplied us with extra blankets for Hugo too which was a lovely touch. The vehicle was nice and easy to drive, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Prices are extremely reasonable too, and even though we were charged for forgetting to fill up the gas canisters, the cost was very small. They offer an abundance of extras too, and we took advantage of the portable generator and toilet chemicals for a small additional cost.Prior to leaving for our trip, the company kept us so well informed with important information, and documentation requests were sent in plenty of time to allow us to be organised. They were also always readily available to give us guidance before and during the trip too.All the staff were lovely, but Ruth was an absolute star, she was so helpful and friendly and a pleasure to meet. She was extremely thorough when going through the initial walk through of the van which gave me a lot of confidence as I’d never driven anything of that size before. We also had a great laugh about number 2s! I’d come back to motorhome escapes for Ruth’s service alone, but the whole experience was brilliant.10/10 we will be back!

For mum’s birthday, we hired an Iona dog friendly motorhome from Motorhome Escapes. Our contact was Michelle at Motorhome Escapes. Our trip could not have started off better than with Michelle. We were guided round the motorhome before we set off and Michelle was there on the mobile if we needed her at any time on our journey. We headed off on the NC500, from Inverness to Dornoch, Dornoch to John O Groats, from there to Durness, then Ullapool to Glencoe. What a beautiful journey. Superb over and above customer service from Richard and John at Motorhome Escapes. After buying our next motorhome, a lovely Adria Matrix Axess 590SG and part exchanging our Autocruise Stargazer we excitedly handed over our keys and took delivery of our new van. Firstly the collection and delivery process was seamless by Richard…Thank You! After we left with our new van and 80 miles later, we stopped for some food and drink at a Motorway Services and duly fitted our security Disklok to the steering wheel as we normally did. Unfortunately the Disklok keys were still on the keyrings handed over during the Delivery process. We were now stranded and it was around 8 o’clock in the evening. An hour or so later John appeared and handed over the keys to our Disklok and to a very relieved couple!. It was long after working hours but Motorhome Escapes came to the rescue. Five star service from Motorhome Escapes.We recently hired a 6 berth, pet friendly, motorhome from Motorhome Escapes to travel around Scotland. After years of talking about doing this we finally took the plunge after a recommendation to use Motorhome Escapes from a friend.We cannot compliment the team at Motorhome Escapes enough, through the booking process Eleanor and Michelle were excellent, providing timely and detailed information and keeping us informed on progress. When we went to pick up the Motorhome, we got a very thorough walk round of the vehicle and how everything worked to supplement the videos we had been provided on completion of our booking. Everything was very clear and the vehicle itself was in top condition. The paperwork was done very quickly and with a small deposit left we were on our way.The week itself was brilliant, so many lovely places to visit in Scotland. The Motorhome was so easy to drive and pitching up and connecting to the electricity and water etc at the various campsites was very easy. The 6 berth was very clean, comfortable and spacious for 2 adults, 2 children and our dog and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was full of all mod cons and was like a home from home.On the way back we made sure to give ourselves a bit of extra time as recommended by Michelle to ensure we could fill up with diesel and gas which went without issue. Eleanor went round the vehicle with us on our return ensuring everything was in check, within about 10 minutes we had signed off the return and heading home.Our deposit was returned within 2 days of us handing the vehicle back (much earlier than the stated 7 days).Would definitely recommend, we had been put off before in using some of the big National companies and we are so glad we chose Motorhome Escapes for the personal touch they provided. Five star service and we will be back again.

The holiday starts when the booking is arranged. The staff at base were fantastic, gave us time, no sale pressure and I had many questions. The van was clean,, almost new, and the handover was easy and very helpful. Beds very comfortable and the van drove well. We had a couple of accidents, lots hub cap and broke the microwave plate but the staff were understanding and the amount to pay completely fine. You always feel the costs might be excessive but they were fair. We had 2 teenage kids with us and had plenty of room. We’ll do it again, perhaps without kids but will not hesitate to us these guys again. Strongly recommended.

Our second time in a motorhome and really glad we booked with Motorhome escapes.In fairness to Michelle and Graham they stayed open late on a Friday evening to give us our Motorhome after our flights were delayed by over two hours, so a big thank you there.We had previously hired a Motorhome and had the benefit of video information directions on how everything worked,but having had the in person review by Michelle I certainly felt I understood everything better than any video.Our Skye Motor home was packed with all the bits and pieces we could have needed including a few we didn’t expect such as towels,tea towels, washing up liquid and cleaning scrubs.So good show Motorhome escapes!

I’m not sure where to start, but let’s start with the lovely Michelle.She has been very available, helpful, patient and replied timely to all of my emails and many questions.When I picked up the camper she first checked the van, in front of me, for marks etc.Which I found very fair and thorough.We went through everything and she explained everything well.The camper was well equipped, the gas and diesel filled up, even a bit of water for instant use.The sheets smelled fresh and clean, were very warm and kept me cosy.You receive the full documentation, which explains all of the Gadgets, toilet, gas refill etc.Everything was very professional, simple and worry-free.Cannot wait to go back and can definitely recommend them.

Excellent service from Graham and the team, it was our first time hiring a Motorhome and they made it really smooth and simple. A beautiful 6 berth we had which was dog friendly, everything was planned like clockwork with online briefing videos and an info pack in the vehicle which helped as there is a lot to be aware of if you’ve never stayed in one before. A wee tour of Scotland Autumn 2020We wanted a Motorhome for our autumn 2020 holiday and contacted a few companies for some advice and a quote. It immediately became obvious that not all companies are the same! Richard the guy we first spoke to at Motorhome Escapes was great right from the word go. He was full of info and enthusiastically answered all my initial questions so we booked the Iona motorhome for a week and off we went.Neither of us had driven anything as large as a Motorhome before and were a little apprehensive at first but the briefing we had at the pickup point help settle nerves and driving it was adventurous and eventually a lot of fun and we were able to drive down some quite narrow roads and even took it on the ferry to the isles.The van itself was brand new and spotless it was fully equipped with everything we needed and a few things I didn’t know I needed, cheese grater anyone? The master bed was large enough for us to sleep comfortably and our daughter loved being up in her nest above the driving cab.The week progressed well and on the one occasion there was a little problem a quick message on the chat app on the web page and we were contacted initially by phone and also by email with clear instructions as to how to rectify the small issue we had.Scotland in autumn looks gorgeous as the leaves on the trees change colour but can be extremely cold especially overnight so it was great to have a heating system that worked so well and having a boiler that can use gas (for wild camping) or electric (when we were on a site) gave us a lot of scope and flexibility to move around as we wanted.All in all I was greatly impressed with the professionalism and attitude of all the staff we met at Motorhome escapes and will definitely be getting my next hire from there.Gary, Beverley and Holly.

As we tend to book up rather quickly, it’s best to make your booking as soon as you’ve decided which vehicle you’d like to hire! We typically start taking bookings up to a year in advance, with many people having booked by the end of December prior to the new season.
Yes, providing you have a maximum of 6 penalty points.
Yes, some motorhomes are assigned as ‘pet friendly’. For an additional charge of £50, you may bring up to 2 small, or 1 medium/large. We also ask that they are not to be left in the vehicle unattended or allowed on the soft furnishings. For other fleet motorhomes we have a strict policy of no pets. Customers are not to bring pets into any of the fleet vehicles that are not specifically assigned as ‘pet friendly’.
You must be aged between 29 and 70 years old to hire one of our motorhomes All drivers must be of good health and have held a full/valid driving licence for at least three years.
Yes, we offer on-site parking for a small fee for the duration of your holiday (£20 at time of writing). Our depot is gated and has CCTV for your peace of mind.

Motorhome Hire FAQs
We have a minimum hire period of 7 nights in peak season months April-October. However sometimes we have gaps in our booking diary and will accept 5 nights subject to availability. Out of season, November to March we can take shorter hire periods.
Yes, we charge a security deposit of £1200 (at time of writing), 3 days prior to vehicle pickup. The damage deposit/deductable is held against your credit card as a pre-authorisation. The pre-authorisation is not a charge and no funds have been debited from your account. Subject to no damages, this hold is released 7 days after the end of the rental, provided the vehicle is returned safely and undamaged. An inspection will be conducted upon return of vehicles following the vehicle being washed off.
Yes, our Motorhomes can be taken on all the ferries, and the ferry company will usually ask for the registration number and the length, height and width of the vehicle.
Our motorhomes and campervans can be driven throughout the UK mainland and islands, however, Northern Ireland is excluded. We do not allow travel to any other nations.
