After an arduous but fun day’s riding and a bite to eat, you can relax in comfort in your luxurious motorhome, whilst taking in the sights and sounds as you move to the next destination of your choosing, suitably refreshed, after a peaceful night’s sleep.

Discover the Rustic Beauty of Scotland

Why not make mountain biking the focus of your trip to Scotland and schedule a biking tour with an outdoor activity provider? You can take your pick from full holiday packages, multi-day tour companies, day operators and guided and self-tours. There is quite literally something for everyone, whether that’s gliding on pathways through hill, glen and forest, or testing your stamina on the steep ascent at Sluggan near Aviemore. If mountain biking is your thing, there’s an embarrassment of riches available to you in Scotland.

Roam Freely on Your Bike

Outdoor access in Scotland is exceptionally good, which explains why the wilderness is such a hit with mountain bikers, with an impressive array of natural routes to experience, some of which are more remote than others. The secret is probably to see as much of Scotland as you can based on the time you have, so it’s a good idea to plan your route carefully and get as much as you can out of your holiday. That in itself is much easier if you travel in a motorhome, where you can simply park up for the evening in the nearest campsite, without the possibility of time restrictions being imposed on you by hotels or guest houses. Not only that, but mountain bikes can be easily stored at the rear of our spacious motorhomes, without any inconvenience to any travellers.

Discover Many of Scotland’s Hidden Treasures

The Forestry Commission who own numerous woodland sites across the country, is as you might imagine an expert on where you should ride and what routes you can take. Many of Scotland’s trails happen to be natural and ‘rustic’ ancient paths and ‘passes’ where you can choose your own route through a wild and often rugged landscape.

From Peebles and Gypsy Glen in the Scottish Borders to Balblair in the north east Highlands, there are some great forest tracks and trail centres to be explored at your leisure on two wheels. Moray Monster Trails in Aberdeenshire is another site which has three trails and over 20 km of routes to choose from, including some trickier terrain. if you’re a more experienced rider up for something a bit more challenging. For the advanced rider, Scotland is also home to undulating trails with amazing climbs and descents on both double and single tracks. Sites such as Glentress, one of the 7stanes mountain biking centres in Dumfries and Galloway, Laggan Wolftrax near Kingussie, Glenlivet and the world famous Nevis Range, you can really test your mountain biking skills to the limit, and hopefully experience the considerable thrill of beating both the natural elements and the landscape. A bit further afield, the Isle of Arran offers a staggering number of wild mountain biking trails for its size. They’re quite rough and ready and more unreconstructed, so do require skilled handling of your mountain bike as well as a necessary ability to read a map.
